Full ship repair and sustainment services for warships and support vessels
In Devonport, New Zealand, we are the Royal New Zealand Navy’s (RNZN) long-term partner of choice, providing the full range of support services to their entire fleet.
Drawing on our unrivalled depth of knowledge and experience, we safely and efficiently provide ship repair and sustainment services to deliver increased asset availability, improved efficiency and significantly reduced operating and infrastructure costs.
In 2022, Babcock was awarded a further seven-and-a-half-year Maritime Fleet Sustainment Service (MFSS) Agreement, Hāpai Taua Manuao, by the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), further strengthening our relationship with the Royal New Zealand Navy.
As the Strategic Maritime Partner to the NZDF, we provide asset management services, including engineering, project management, production and operational support, to the entire RNZN fleet, from the frigates through to small craft.
We are very proud of our long-standing partnership with the NZDF and of our contribution to maintaining the security of New Zealand and its Pacific partners.
Sustainability underpins our corporate Purpose: to create a safe and secure world, together.
Our Maritime Fleet Support Services Agreement has a strong focus on environmental and social outcomes, including aiming for our New Zealand operations to be one of the first carbon-zero dockyards in the world.
As a result of our commitment to continuous improvement through training, empowering and encouraging the combined team to success, we were announced as the proud winner of the New Zealand Government Strategic Partnership Award for Excellence in Industry in 2021, and the New Zealand Best Practice Award in 2022. Continuing our dedication to developing talent, we’ll be taking on over 100 STEM apprentices and graduates to support MFSS.
We’re focused on building long term partnerships with the New Zealand supply chain, including increasing opportunities and collaboration with small and medium-sized businesses, and in particular developing long-term relationships with Māori and Pasifika businesses. Our supply chain partners are key to our capability and focus on delivering for our customer.
